Sunday with Sunny– what else do I do? :)
There are a million things I could write about each week– each day, even– but I think it is apparent to everyone that Sunny is my most favorite topic. Other topics, I put off writing about; in regards to Sunny, I could write a novel about her! She is just so. darn. cute! I can’t get over it. The entire time we’re together, I look … Continue reading Sunday with Sunny– what else do I do? 🙂
Farm Day!!
The past two weeks, I’ve had the honor of helping out at “Farm Day” for the Foundation for Blind Children, here in Phoenix. Farm Day is an annual event where all of the students from the Foundation’s local campuses come to visit a farm in Glendale. Despite their vision impairments, the farm thrills the children’s other senses in a myriad of other ways that they … Continue reading Farm Day!!
Alix’s Bridal Shower!
This past weekend was also my good friend Alix’s bridal shower! It was the second bridal shower that I’ve been to in the past year– yikes!! The bridal shower was in downtown Phoenix, at the sleek 44 Monroe, where Nadia lives. Nadia’s place has an awesome community room that you can reserve and being the incredible hostess she is, Nadia went above & beyond, having … Continue reading Alix’s Bridal Shower!
Sweet Sadie!
This past Sunday, I spend the day with Sadie: Sadie is a 5-year old Doberman Pincher….who is on a diet. You see, she is a “chowhound.” All Sadie wanted to do at Pet Club, was go down the food & treats aisle, trying to rip into bags of food so she could eat. I sort of felt like I was supervising an obese person, … Continue reading Sweet Sadie!
Happy (belated) Easter!
Happy Easter everyone! I’ve been trying all of Lent to find time to write a blog about what I gave up for Lent, and since Lent is over….I suppose now would be the time 🙂 This year, for Lent, I gave up using my phone while driving! This means I wasn’t allowed to: Call anyone Text anyone Google Map anything Email anyone from work Browse … Continue reading Happy (belated) Easter!
Dogs’ Life
This weekend I spent time with two RESCUE dogs—Phaedra first on Saturday & then Sunny on Sunday! Phaedra is a 5-year old Boxer mix. I picked her up about 8AM on Saturday, excited to take her for a walk/run around the lake. (Her back page comments said she was super energetic! No one had been able to wear her out yet.) About a quarter mile … Continue reading Dogs’ Life
Pittsburgh!
Last weekend, I went to Pittsburgh for my friend Aly’s birthday, as well as St. Patrick’s Day! I had never been to Pittsburgh before, so it was really great having Aly and her legit boyfriend, JR, show me around. Plus, another Alpha Phi, Eliza, drove up from Charlotte with her boyfriend, Corey, so it was an added bonus to catch up with her too 🙂 … Continue reading Pittsburgh!
Mini Family Reunion
This past weekend, post-StandDown, I headed off on a fun weekend trip with my mom to Laughlin, Nevada! Laughlin is like a mini Las Vegas for old people. (Emphasis on the old people part.) My Aunt Leslie & Uncle Dave where chaperoning my Grandpa & Grandma on their last big gambling trip out west, while my Uncle Duke & Aunt Linda were flying from Florida … Continue reading Mini Family Reunion
Sunny goes to school!
A the Beauty to the RESCUE event, I was approached by another volunteer, who asked if I thought Sunny would be a good candidate for an upcoming school visit. I told her Sunny would be perfect for the job! I’ve had my fingers crossed ever since that Sunny would be the “chosen one,” and I found out earlier this week she was! Today was the … Continue reading Sunny goes to school!
StandDown
This past Friday, I had the opportunity to volunteer at StandDown Arizona! StandDown is a US Department of Veterans’ Affairs event, held in different cities across the US during the year. The event in Phoenix is the largest in the country, serving over 1300 homeless veterans in two days. These veterans– from what I saw– range from just over 18 all the way up to … Continue reading StandDown
